Identify geographic and thematic coverage
Avoid treating an entire continent as a single specialty. Identify countries, institutions, sectors, or cross-border themes where you have sustained experience. If your coverage is broad, explain the comparative work that supports it.
Support coverage with relevant work
Include selected reports, projects, publications, or roles that show how you developed the expertise. Note your contribution and the period covered. Distinguish recent research from older experience.
Explain language use
A language can support interviews, document review, or public-source monitoring. Describe the level and use accurately. Working fluency in one language does not imply equivalent research fluency in another.
State knowledge limits
Identify the limits of your coverage and the questions that would require further research. This helps assess whether a proposed engagement is within your expertise.
Keep logistics separate
Residence and time zone help arrange collaboration. Research coverage helps establish relevance. Record them separately so an invitation is not based only on where you happen to live.
